Mount Nemrut, which is one of the 8 wonders of the world, with a height of 2,150 meters, is located near the Ankar Mountains in the Kahta District of Adıyaman Province in the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
Antiochus Theos, King of Commagene, a powerful kingdom where the beliefs, cultures and traditions of Greek and Persian civilizations were integrated, BC. In 62, he had his own tomb temple built on the top of this mountain, along with the statues of many Greek and Persian gods. The tomb temple is an ancient artifact outside of Egypt, with statues of gods and kings reaching 8-10 meters in height.
The sculptures begin with a statue of a lion and an eagle and end in the same order. The lion, the king of animals, symbolizes power on earth, and the eagle, the messenger of the gods, symbolizes celestial power. The statues are lined up on both sides as follows: King Antiochos I (Theos); Fortuna (Theichye- Commagene-Goddess); Zeus (Oromasdes); Apollo (Mithras-Helios-Hermes), Heracles (Ares- Artagnes).
